If you’re at all like me, you start thinking about gift ideas long before it’s time to even pass them out – no matter the occasion. Christmas will be here in a jiffy! I’ve already explained before why us homebodies are so awesome to have as friends/family. If you want to get
us them something meaningful this holiday season, the good news is that we’re usually easy to please in the gift department. Keep in mind that homebodies just love making a house into a home. It’s a place of refuge and rejuvenation for us and for anyone who visits.
If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile, you know that I’m a frugal gal who loves a good deal. I try to get as much done as I can, while spending as little as I can. Decorating is, like, SO fun and I was so excited for the holiday season that I had my tree up before Thanksgiving. Judge me, IDC.
Even though I’m zealous about this time of the year, I still didn’t want to buy expensive decor especially when it’d be stashed away in just a couple of months. I also enjoy thrifting but I didn’t have the time to run around town hunting for crazy markdowns. I wound up improvising but I pulled it off for less than $50! I’ve decorated on the “dime” before (read about it here) and am sharing my ways with you all over again! Let’s get to it, shall we?
When I was growing up my family had a real Christmas tree every year. We’d load up into the car and head to a tree lot…OK it was more like the corner of a strip mall parking lot with trees already cut down and for sale. We always got the cheaper tree – no fir! Oh the memories!
But I’m an adult now and this is my first year forming my own traditions. The biggest decision for me…real tree or fake tree? Hmmm.
I couldn’t believe that I was even considering a fake tree. My mama raised me better that. But then again mama wasn’t here to help me load and carry a tree from a parking lot. So I decided to use the virtually fool proof Pro/Con list to decide which was best for me. If you’re still undecided on what kind of tree you’ll have for 2016, this could help!
“I won’t be coming home for Christmas.”
That’s pretty much what I repeated to all of my family members, and it sucked. I was pretty much set to be in my new home (Georgia) instead of Maryland when Santa was making his rounds. Sad face emoji’s kept coming across my screen as I texted out the unfortunate news. The bottom line was that I had a work obligation on Christmas Eve and it would’ve been too late to make the 9 hour drive after I was finished. And of course, plane tickets were crazy expensive.
So I jokingly kept saying that I was hoping for a Christmas miracle so that I could go home. But I really didn’t expect anything to happen, honestly. Again, joking – haha.
I know it’s been awhile since we talked – I mean really, I’m getting closer to 30. This is no time to be prideful though. I’m kind of desperate you know. I’ve been told that you aren’t real and I’m sure you just hate that. You do so much every year and you don’t even get credit. How lame is that?
But here’s your chance to prove that you ARE real. If you do these things, I’ll restore my faith in you and tell the world of all your holiday generosity. I won’t even bore you with long paragraphs. I’m keeping this short and simple for you, alright? Alright Santa…here’s what I want for Christmas this year…
Winter season will officially begin on the 22nd. Can you believe it?! I’m still trying to grasp onto the fact that we’re really in December. No use in getting bummed about it though! I decided to come up with these cool questions instead. I’ve teamed up with Krystal of The Krystal Diaries and Lexi of Lex Be Livin’ to answer these questions AND to bring you a special winter giveaway! Read on to find out more.
What’s your go to winter outfit?
One word – layers! Cozy boyfriend cardigans are a must for me. Longer cardigans keep my booty covered in case I decide to wear leggings with boots instead of jeans.
Eggnog? Check. Cozy blanket? Check. Now…what about some background music?
Yup, it’s that time of the year! You turn the radio on, you hear it. When you’re shopping, you hear it. It’ll likely get stuck in your head until early 2016. Good ole’ holiday music! Helene sparked this post idea and I couldn’t let it go.
Music is so powerful and as I’ve said before, it’s a huge part of my life and a piece of who I am. Seriously, I need to listen to music everyday. So let’s get into it! My top 8 Christmas songs for 2015. Who am I kidding? My top 8 for any year really.
The journal cover is nothing but the truth. The older I get, the faster time seems to pass by. When someone figures out why this is and how we can stop it – please let me know. Can you believe it’s basically December? I know I can’t!
Since I’m unable to slow down time I decided to make a monthly bucket list. I think bucket lists in general are good – things that you want to do before you die. But a monthly list can make things feel more tangible. Like you can actually plot to get them done instead of waiting for a major epiphany in life before acting on them. So here is what would make December awesome for me.
