Get All the Things Done! 1 Productivity Tip

“There just aren’t enough hours in the day.” It’s a saying that we all know and understand. A lot of us (ME) create lifestyles that keep us super busy and it can be hard to keep up with it all. If you can relate, give me an “Amen, sista!”  Today I wanted to give you just one tip that WILL increase your productivity if you use it.

You know how you make a “to do” list? You jot down all the things you need to do when they pop in your head. And then it’s time to do the things and you don’t know where to start. Which one is most important? Which order should you do them in? Which tasks can be put off until the next day? Before you can even start you might be mentally fizzed out just by not having a clear direction to go in.

There is a solution!

Schedule everything. Yes, everything – if that’s what you need.

I was one of those people that used to remember everything. “Candace, remind me to call John Doe later, please.” And I would! Once I started my business and then this blog my brain became super scrambled. I never thought I needed a planner. They were cute but I never used them. Thank God I’ve matured (just a little bit).

Get a planner. Scheduling makes a difference. Why?

-A deadline keeps you accountable to yourself
-You can get a feel for how long certain tasks really take, which in turn helps you schedule better down the road
-You’ll also get a feel for how much time you “waste” throughout the day
-It keeps stress down. No panicking because you forgot about that appointment
-You won’t over commit. You’ll see just how much is on your plate and how much time you can spare for other people or activities

I personally write just about everything in my planner even the things that seem easy to remember (like what to pack in my gym bag…when I go). No need to spend a ton of money on a fancy schmancy planner. Just get something that’ll get you started. It’s always a great time to get organized!
