4 Ways to Boost Your Resume NOW!

Resume: A brief account of one’s professional or work experience and qualifications, often submitted with an employment application*

But really, a resume is so much more than that. For example, it can show your personality and it can show your grammar skills (or lack thereof if you aren’t careful). A resume is normally the one thing standing between you and a job interview. I did a post “6 Resume Mistakes to Avoid” and today I want to tell you some things that you should include, like, right now if you want your resume to instantly be better.

Did you raise a significant amount of money? Did you manage other people? Did you oversee a project budget? In a sea of words, numbers will jump out on your resume. So if you have quantitative results to showcase, do it!

NOT an objective. An objective is what kind of job you’re seeking. A professional profile talks about you. It’s a short summary of your experience and should include important keywords related to your industry.

I’m not talking about your Bachelors or Masters. I’m talking about special certifications, online classes or even a one day seminar. These things increase your knowledge and show that you are the kind of person that wants to be constantly learning and growing. Say what, you haven’t taken any lately? Check Groupon, they always have interesting classes for a good price. I’ve taken some and yes they went right on my resume!

Social Media Handles
…assuming that there are no photos of you drunk and dancing on a tabletop. It’s no secret that recruiters check candidate social media pages to get a feel for what kind of person they are. If you post about things that would be relevant for your job search (like business tips or helpful articles), why not put that account on your resume?

One last piece of advice: don’t be modest with your resume. The object of the thing is to land you a job, so always put your best foot forward.

Until next time…
